How to check manually if your phone has eSIM

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  2. Look for “Add eSIM”, “Add Cellular Plan” or “Add Data Plan”.
  3. If the option exists, your phone supports eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked.

On Android (Samsung, Pixel, etc.)

  1. Open Settings → Connections / Network & internet → SIMs / SIM manager.
  2. Look for “Add eSIM”, “Download a SIM” or “Add mobile plan”.
  3. On some models: Settings → About phone → SIM status — if you see “EID”, the phone has eSIM.

What you should know about eSIM compatibility

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM profile installed on your phone — no physical chip. On Simy.ro you buy a data plan for your destination, receive a QR code by email and scan it in phone settings — ideal for travel without expensive roaming.

Compatibility depends on hardware (eSIM chip), software (up-to-date iOS / Android) and whether the phone is carrier-unlocked. Dual-SIM phones can keep your home number on the physical SIM and use travel data on the eSIM abroad.

iPhone XS, XR and all newer models (including SE 2020/2022/2024) support eSIM. On Android, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Z Flip/Fold, Google Pixel 3+ and many recent mid-range phones are compatible. Very old models or some region-specific variants may lack eSIM — always check for an EID or “Add eSIM”.

Safest check: in Settings look for “Add eSIM”, or find an EID under About phone / SIM status. If that option or code appears, your hardware supports eSIM.

Yes if you have iPhone XS, XR or any newer model (including iPhone SE from 2020 onward). Older models (X, 8, 7) do not have eSIM.
